La Nuestra Tango is thrilled to host Ezgi Turmuş for her first trip to New York City during her month long US tour. For those of you who are unfamiliar with Ezgi Turmus, you will find many videos of her performances online. A few are included below each of the workshop.
Ezgi started her tango journey at the Istanbul University Dance Club more than 20 years ago. She studied both roles from the day she started tango in Istanbul, and later in Buenos Aires.
In 2009 Ezgi founded TangoSam, a vibrant and inclusive tango community in her hometown Samsun, where she started teaching and organizing the annual Mar Negro Open Role Tango Marathon. She has honed her skills as a teacher and performer for more than a decade, and is now one of the most highly sought after dual role dancers internationally. She has been invited to teach and perform at festivals and events across Europe, Asia and most recently the United States. Some of Ezgi's most memorable dual role performances have been with well-known Argentine dancers Ariadna Naivera and Corina Herrera.
Ezgi will be teaching pre-milonga classes at Tango Cafe on Wednesday, January 29 and at Tango La Nacional on Thursday, January 30 where she will also be performing with Ciko (Cigdem Tanik). Please contact Ezgi directly on Facebook or Instagram regarding privates.
