OUR MISSION
To build a diverse and inclusive community where everyone can experience the beauty and magic of Argentine Tango.
Barriers of gender, race, class, sexual orientation, age and finance have frequently limited who is visible, who can access, who can participate, and what roles are available to those who do participate. We are working to break down these barriers by creating different ways in which the public can engage in an inclusive tango experience.
This includes but is not limited to: learning to dance tango in whatever role pleases each person, participating in community conversations, lectures, and social events, and discovering what tango culture can mean to each and every one of us in an environment designed to foster inclusion and belonging.
Key elements of La Nuestra Tango is to provide equitable and fair compensation for tango artists and musicians, support local arts and cultural venues that share the same values, and create thoughtful scholarships that will allow anyone to participate with dignity and ease, especially if they could not otherwise afford to attend.
Your tax-deductible contribution will be used for the following:
-
Fair compensation for tango artists and musicians
-
Venue rental fees that also support other local arts and cultural programming
-
Scholarship and sliding scale opportunities so that everyone can participate, helping to subvert class and financial boundaries
Please make a donation or become a sustaining donor!
La Nuestra Tango is a sponsored project of Fractured Atlas, a non-profit arts service organization. Contributions for the charitable purposes of La Nuestra Tango must be made payable to “Fractured Atlas” only and are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law.
